Custom products and apparel are the best way to get your brand noticed by potential consumers, or simply as a way of expressing yourself. Either option is possible through screen printing, the process in which ink is transferred to any item the company provides. One colour is applied at a time, and when the process is complete you’ll have a custom printed shirt, bag, jacket or whatever you desire. If you’re new to the world of screen printing, here’s a quick overview of how the process works.
Concept
Whether you draw it or someone else does, come up with a design that speaks to who you are, who your brand is or whatever reason you’re in the market for a screen print design. At companies like Above All Screening, they’ll custom print your idea onto t-shirts, hoodies, pants, bags and more. No design is too much for them. They also have an onsite artist who will work with you to create the perfect design for your needs. A mock-up is usually created before the true screen printing begins.
Burning the Image
This might sound horrifying but it’s actually a simple and harmless step in creating your custom design. Your crafted image is taken to a screening room, where it’s then burned onto a freshly cleaned screen. This can be a single screen or multiple depending on how many colours are in your design. A multicoloured image can be applied to any of the canvases we offer at the shop.
Colouring Time
Here comes the fun part. Mixing inks can be a challenge, as it’s a balancing act of combining colours to get exactly what the customer wants. We work hard to make sure you’re happy with results, not stopping until we get the colouring right.
Pressing Process
This is where the ink and shirt meet for the first time. Your screens will be carefully aligned by the press operator before your shirt, or whatever canvas you want, is loaded up. A laser alignment tool is used to make sure your design is printed in the same spot every time.
Someone else will unload your custom printed canvas, once it’s gone through all the screens, before thoroughly inspecting the screen print job. Any errors or inconsistencies are unacceptable and not something Above All Screening would send out to customers. Once the canvas has passed the test, it’s moved to a dryer and compared to the original mock-up. If all is well, then your order is quickly shipped out. Above All Screening prides itself on our fast turnaround time, shipping anywhere in Canada, from a few hours to ten days depending on the order size.
